Statement on art work:
The need in making art is to enlist the dormant self that plays only when the pragmatic mind relaxes its need to control everything so that surprises can be allowed to happen. As an artist, I am constantly posing problems that need to jell and to be resolved during the creative process.
My creative process is an intuitive combining of colors and shapes with linear stitching using a fused collage technic with both hand dyed and commercial fabrics. A spiritual feeling combines with a rich color intensity. Design elements from my professional art training are incorporated into the quilting medium. Netting occasionally lends shadows, a sense of depth and surface textures. Machine stitching contributes texture enriching surfaces. I find this a vital and exciting art form.
